SoCar partner spotlight

I've had SoCar on the channel, visited their facility, and put several of their products to work. I wanted this guide to do more than run through a list of bottles. You can watch my original Shorts right alongside the products they cover, then use the rest of the guide to work out what belongs in your setup.

A weekly wash, an interior cleanup, an oily shop floor and an oxidized pontoon call for different products. Start with the job in front of you. You do not need the whole lineup to do one job well.

Disclosure: I sell SoCar products through That Detail Shop. SoCar supplied products featured in my original unboxing, and I've discussed working with the company. The videos below are my original 2025 introductions and reviews. Prices, packaging and offers mentioned in them may have changed.

Meet SoCar

SoCar takes its name from South Carolina. According to the company, it began in 1967 as a father-and-son operation with four car-care formulas in a 500-square-foot building. Today, the family-owned business blends and bottles cleaning products in Greenville, South Carolina, with a range spanning detailing, marine care, household cleaning and industrial work.

That breadth is useful, but it also makes choosing the right bottle important. This guide covers the SoCar products currently listed in our shop, grouped by what they are made to do. Product-specific directions, surface restrictions and safety information always take priority over a general detailing routine.

Watch the original lineup introduction

This is where I first unpacked the range. Bumper Brite, the wash products, Pit Crew and the interior products all came out of that box. The care in the packaging stood out to me, but opening a bottle and testing it are two different stages. The product-specific clips below show what I covered next.

My original SoCar unboxing, August 26, 2025. This is an introduction to the range and packaging, not a performance test of every bottle. Watch on YouTube.

Start at the wash: Avalanche, Pinky's and wash-and-wax options

Avalanche: for the foam-cannon stage

Avalanche Foam Cannon Concentrate is SoCar's foam-gun and foam-cannon-focused wash. The manufacturer describes it as a pH-neutral concentrate for vehicle washing, including waxed and ceramic-coated surfaces. It is a good place to start if you want a dedicated foaming wash in your setup.

Use the dilution on the current bottle for your equipment. A foam cannon draws and dilutes solution again as it sprays, so the ratio in its reservoir is not necessarily the ratio reaching the vehicle. Foam appearance also depends on your water and equipment. More foam is not a guarantee of a scratch-free wash, and SoCar's directions still include contact washing with suitable wash media.

Pinky's: flexible wash-day coverage

Pinky’s Foaming Car Wash is a pH-neutral, wax-free wash that SoCar lists for a bucket, foam gun or foam cannon. That makes it a flexible choice if your wash process changes from vehicle to vehicle. SoCar identifies Pinky's as its first product, dating back to 1967, with the formula updated over the years.

For a straightforward choice: look at Avalanche when you are shopping specifically for the foaming stage, or Pinky's when you want one wash option for bucket and foam equipment. Neither product is a substitute for proper wash technique, and neither should be treated as a heavy industrial degreaser.

When you want a wash that leaves something behind

If you are preparing paint for a coating, follow that coating manufacturer's preparation process rather than assuming a wax-containing wash is the right final cleaning step.

Wheels and tires: clean first, then choose the finish

Pit Crew Wheel Cleaner handles the cleaning stage. Blue Suede Tire Shine is the dressing that follows. If you are trying to remove brake dust, buy the cleaner. If the tire is already clean and you want to change its appearance, you are shopping for a dressing.

Pit Crew and Blue Suede: my first look

In this Short, I go through the Pit Crew label, talk about using a hose and brushes, and compare the role of Blue Suede with a solvent-style dressing. I also point out the care SoCar took with the packaging. The clip stops before the actual wheel-cleaning result, so I would not use it to claim a measured cleaning advantage or a long-term tire-shine result.

Pit Crew and Blue Suede introduction, September 17, 2025. Product roles and label discussion, not a completed before-and-after test. Watch on YouTube.

How to choose: SoCar positions Pit Crew for brake dust and road grime and describes a spray, scrub and rinse process. Check your wheel finish and the current label before use, especially on damaged, refinished or specialty wheels. Use separate wheel-cleaning tools rather than carrying brake dust onto the paint.

Blue Suede is a petroleum-free silicone emulsion. SoCar says it goes on blue, dries clear and leaves a dry-to-the-touch finish. That visible application color can help you track coverage. Follow the current tire-product directions rather than treating the dilution or interior-use discussion in the older clip as a universal instruction.

Blue Suede Tire Shine with Protect Shield Formula™
Blue Suede is the tire-finishing step after cleaning.

Eye Candy Extreme Tire Shine is the solvent-based, high-gloss wet-look option in our current selection. Decide what finish you want, check the intended surface, and follow that bottle's drying instructions. Keep dressing on the intended tire sidewall, away from tread and braking surfaces.

Where Flashback fits

Flashback Wheel Cleaner & Red Mud Remover uses an organic-acid formula for difficult wheel cleaning and red-mud or rust staining on compatible surfaces. SoCar specifically excludes highly polished aluminum. If you are choosing between Flashback and Pit Crew, identify the contamination and the finish first. Do not choose the stronger-sounding name and hope the surface will tolerate it.

Bumper Brite: what I noticed on faded exterior trim

Bumper Brite Exterior Trim Restorer is SoCar's dedicated product for faded bumpers and other vinyl or plastic exterior trim. It gives you a more specific starting point for that job than borrowing whichever dressing happens to be on the shelf.

I tried it on a Ford Bronco and saw a richer appearance on the trim. My overall reaction was positive without being over the top. The strong odor was the drawback I called out. I did not run a long-term durability test in this Short, so there is no months-of-protection claim here.

My Bumper Brite review, September 11, 2025. Immediate appearance and application impressions, not a durability study. Watch on YouTube.

A clarification on the video: I questioned VOC compliance because of the smell. Odor alone cannot establish that. Use the current label and SDS for handling guidance, and get any compliance answer from the manufacturer. Also keep slippery dressings off step treads and other surfaces where footing or grip matters.

Bumper Brite Exterior Trim Restorer
Bumper Brite is intended for compatible exterior vinyl and plastic trim.

For this kind of product, check three things before ordering: the material you are treating, the finish you want, and the manufacturer's application instructions. A good first-day appearance is useful information, but it does not tell you how it will look after repeated washing and weather exposure.

Interior care: cleaner, carpet solution, odor treatment or protectant?

These are separate jobs. Start by deciding whether you need to remove soil, clean carpet with equipment, address an odor source or finish an already-clean surface.

Use a discreet test area when compatibility is uncertain. Keep protectants off pedals, steering-wheel grip areas and other controls where a slippery finish would be unsafe. Names such as “BioSafe” are product branding, not permission to ignore the label or use a chemical around people or animals without following its precautions.

402 All Purpose Cleaner: my most useful dilution lesson

402 All Purpose Cleaner Concentrate is the versatile interior/exterior cleaner in this group. SoCar lists uses including carpet, upholstery, dashboards, consoles, cupholders and floor mats. It is a concentrate, so the surface and soil level need to guide how you mix it.

In my review, I started at a reported 25:1 dilution. I thought the cleaning was solid, but I wanted more visible foam while working. I then tried about 12:1 and liked the extra foam during agitation. That was an application preference from my test, not proof that everybody should double the chemical or that more foam always means more cleaning.

My 402 review, September 14, 2025. The 25:1 and approximately 12:1 mixtures describe that test, not directions for every surface. Watch on YouTube.

Before you copy a ratio: follow the current 402 bottle's directions for the material you are cleaning. The manufacturer's product page confirms that 402 must be diluted, but does not provide a single ratio for every application. Test a discreet area and check the vehicle maker's instructions for delicate finishes, screens and special coatings.

For comparison, Mint Condition is the dedicated routine interior-cleaning option above. 402 makes more sense when you want a concentrate for a wider set of compatible jobs and are prepared to measure it properly. If you are choosing a solution specifically for an extractor, look at No-Foam Carpet Cleaner and your machine's requirements rather than assuming the foam behavior in my 402 test establishes extractor compatibility.

402 All Purpose Cleaner Concentrate
402 is a concentrate. Match the dilution to the current label and the job.

When the job calls for a different degreaser

The important distinction is compatibility, not bottle color or how strong a product sounds. Burst!'s aluminum positioning does not transfer to Premium Purple, and an industrial degreaser should not automatically become your everyday interior cleaner.

Paint finishing, polishing and residue removal

For the protection stage, compare Best in Show Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax, Spit Shine Carnauba Spray Wax and SoCar Sealant Automotive & RV Protective Wax. These give you different finishing options after appropriate cleaning. Pick the product that fits the surface and existing protection instead of assuming every wax or sealant should be layered together.

For polishing work, our selection includes Re-Vive Fine Grit Automotive Buffing & Polishing Compound, New Light Plastic Lens Cleaner & Polisher and Metal Magic Metal Polish. Match the product to paint, plastic lenses or compatible metal respectively. A plastic-lens polish is not a universal paint compound, and a metal polish is not appropriate for every coated metal finish.

For stubborn residue, All-Sol is a solvent positioned for tar, wax, grease and adhesive residue; Bio-Safe Citrus Solvent Industrial Grade Adhesive Remover is another dedicated adhesive-removal option. Solvent removal is different from routine washing. Confirm material compatibility, ventilation, protective equipment and ignition precautions in the exact product's label and safety data sheet before use. Do not assume that “citrus” means harmless.

Marine, shop and household products are part of the spotlight, too

Pontoon cleaning is not the same as polishing

1-Step Pontoon Cleaner Concentrate is an organic-acid concentrate. The manufacturer's directions specify one part cleaner to four parts water. Toonshine Ready to Use Pontoon Cleaner is the ready-to-use option, so do not automatically copy the concentrate's dilution into that bottle.

Toonshine is an aluminum brightener, not a polish. SoCar says not to use it on brand-new, waxed, coated or polished aluminum. The intended result is a bright, raw finish, not a mirror-polished one. Its directions require outdoor use, gloves and safety glasses, and caution against breathing spray vapor and spraying vegetation. Read the full current instructions before starting.

How to build a useful SoCar order

  1. Start with your next job. For a normal wash, choose the appropriate wash product. For an interior, choose a cleaner first and add a compatible protectant only if needed.
  2. Check the surface. Coated, polished, raw and painted versions of the same material can need different treatment.
  3. Choose a practical size. Our listings include different sizes by product. Compare the actual size and current price, and consider how much you will use and can safely store.
  4. Read before mixing. Use each label's dilution, dwell time, rinsing and protective-equipment instructions. Do not combine chemicals unless their manufacturer explicitly directs that combination.

Need a safety data sheet? Use SoCar's SDS request page for the exact product. This guide helps you choose; it does not replace the label, SDS or equipment instructions.

SoCar questions worth asking before you buy

Which SoCar products have I actually covered in these videos?

The four clips are the original lineup unboxing, a Pit Crew and Blue Suede introduction, the 402 review and the Bumper Brite review. The rest of this article is a selection guide based on the listed product uses, not a claim that I personally tested every product in the range.

Should I buy both a wheel cleaner and tire shine?

Only if you need both jobs done. Pit Crew is for cleaning; Blue Suede and Eye Candy are finishing options for the intended tire surfaces. Dressing does not replace removing the dirt underneath.

Do all SoCar products use the same dilution?

No. The range includes concentrates, ready-to-use cleaners, protectants, polishes and solvents. Use each product's current instructions. A ratio mentioned in an older review should not override the bottle in your hand.

How should I compare value?

Compare the current price, the amount of usable solution at the label-approved dilution, and the shipping for your order. A gallon can make sense if you will use it and can store it safely. A smaller size can be the better buy when you are trying a product for the first time.

How does shipping work?

SoCar products ship separately from SoCar. Check the shipping charge and any brand-specific free-shipping eligibility at checkout. Do not assume a free-shipping offer for TDS-shipped items also covers the SoCar portion of a mixed order.

Pick the product for the job you actually have. Shop the SoCar lineup for current sizes, prices and availability. The product videos can help you see my experience; the label and surface requirements should make the final decision.

Manufacturer information and safety sheets

Background and product distinctions were checked against SoCar's own information: company history, Avalanche, Pinky's, Premium Purple, Burst!, Flashback, No-Foam, 1-Step and Toonshine. Always consult the current product label.

For the products featured in the videos, see SoCar's information on Pit Crew, Blue Suede, 402 and Bumper Brite. Request the current SDS from SoCar when you need product-specific handling information.
